World of Warcraft's 6th Anniversary!

World of Warcraft turns 6 years old next week, and just like in 2008 and 2009, players who log in during the anniversary celebration will be awarded a feat of strength. Blue poster Daxxarri broke the news yesterday night on the official forums:

World of Warcraft's 6th Anniversary!
World of Warcraft turns six on November 23rd, 2010! It's been a truly incredible six years, and we'd like to thank you all for joining us on this momentous occasion. To celebrate, players that log into the game between the dates of November 30th and December 14th will receive a feat of strength added to their Achievements. We look forward to another great year ahead and many more to come!

But what about that free anniversary pet?

World of Warcraft

Does this mean no pet? :(

The Baby Blizzard Bear was a gift that we mailed to players for logging in for our five-year anniversary. We plan to reserve this sort of celebratory bonus for the most notable milestones or events.

Contrary to what the blue post says, Blizzard gave away the Onyxian Whelpling pet to all those who logged in during World of Warcraft's five-year anniversary. The Baby Blizzard Bear pet was actually a gift for the game's fourth anniversary in 2008 -- a milestone that is arguably no more notable than the upcoming sixth anniversary.

But I digress. Yes, it's sad that we're not getting a pet this year. And yes, it is weird that the anniversary period doesn't include the actual anniversary of the game. Still, any disappointment stems from Blizzard just plain being too generous in the past with this kind of stuff, so you can't hit the company too hard for coming up short this year.
